Lena Gabrielle

Hi! My name is Lena Gabrielle and i’m an 18-year-old Freshman music composition major at Ithaca College in the-middle-of-nowhere, NY. Music and Harry Potter are my two passions, and The Butterbeer Experience is my chance to combine the two (yay!).

So… about me! I’m a music composition major, which means that i’m basically a music geek who likes to write. a lot. Since sixth grade, it has been my dream to write music for the movies, and i am getting closer to pursuing that dream every single day. I have written many scores for string orchestras (i took violin lessons for 15 years and performed in many NYS festival orchestras… i don’t anymore but i still play in orchestra) and have dabbled in wind, choral, and full orchestral works. When i was in 8th grade, i wrote the music for and co-directed the 6th grade play at my school, Pets on Strike. I have also been writing pop music since i was about eleven years old, and recently released a pop piano-vocal album entitled The Transitive Property of Lena.

I love to sing, act, and perform! I am in a co-ed a cappella group at school called “IC Voicestream” which eats up all of my time but is my pride and joy. This year we are recording a CD and i am lucky enough to have a solo on it! In high school, i was in many musicals, including Les Miserables, Beauty and the Beast, Miss Saigon and Aida, where i played the role of Mereb. I was also in Jazz Choir, Select Choir, and the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra Holiday Pops Choir. I wish i got to act and sing in college, but there just isn’t enough time!

I also love to teach and direct music. I have had the honor of assistant directing several musicals, including Oliver, Seussical, Narnia, and High School Musical. I also was the student director and president of my orchestra, section leader in choir, and helped out a lot in teaching the scores for musicals i was in. At the end of my senior year, i recieved an “excellence in education” award from my school district, and am definitely considering music education as a second career!

Outside of music… there isn’t really much besides Harry Potter and my amazing friends! I love to shop, go to movies, eat out, and take random road trips to nowhere. I also love Desperate Housewives, Pushing Daisies, Jericho, the card game “SET”, shoes, being a Unitarian Universalist, music theory, Ithaca, talking, talking in random accents, chocolate, vlogging, and meeting new people!
