The Butterbeer Experience was founded by Lena Gabrielle in August, 2007. This band dedicated to all things Harry Potter combines broadway, classical, rock, pop, and jazz to form a very unique type of Wizard Rock.
Lena was first introduced to Wizard Rock when a friend played her one of the very first Harry and the Potters songs at the “Half Blood Prince” book release party. Because it was loud, late, and she was so hyped about the new book, she didn’t really pay any attention and promptly forgot the incident.
It was only after she attended the All Star Wizard Rock Show at Prophecy that she began to understand the scale of the wizard rock community. She thought about starting her own band but had no idea where to begin. However, she soon got her chance. Lena was signed up to compete in the Wizard Talent Show the next evening, with an original song she called “Alone”. This video shows that fateful performance.
The judges (Matt from The Whomping Willows, Brian and Bradley from Draco and the Malfoys, and Alex from The Remus Lupins) threw out so many compliments and the audience was so enthusiastic, that Lena knew that she had to start her own band – even if it was just a solo act!
Since Prophecy, Lena has had the time of her life as “The Butterbeer Experience”! In November, she performed in Rochester, NY and Philadelphia at two amazing wrock festivals, and in January held her own show in Cambridge, MA. Her CD, “Non-Alcoholic”, was released just after Christmas 2007, and she is well on the way to finishing her second full-length Album, “Accio Hot Guy”, which will be released sometime in 2008. Lena looks forward to performing at Magus, Wrockstock, and Wrock Chicago this summer!
